The Backbone: A Worldwide Disaster Management Network
Like many other university programmes the Master of Disaster Management has an alumni network - our network is called The Backbone. The internet home of the Backbone is the closed Backbone Forum, where people can communicate directly with each other about job vacancies and new courses, social activities, and current emergencies, and ask the other members about anything from sanitation in refugee camps to good advice on how to find housing in Copenhagen.
The Forum also includes a section for emergencies. In this section all members can post questions when they are out working in the field and are faced with a problem beyond their professional capabilities. These posts will automatically be sent to all members of the Backbone network, which includes both current students and the lecturers at University of Copenhagen and Lund University, who have access to all the updated literature and databases, as well as all former Disaster Management students, with all their expertice in a multitude of different areas.
The Backbone will therefore provide Disaster Management graduates and students with a 24/7 support and assistance in any situation, and allow you to stay in contact with international field work even when sitting at your desk.
This ensures that you, as a disaster management graduate, are never going to be alone in the field.
If you are a current or former student, you can register by following the link below or clicking on the Backbone link in the top-menu of this website.
